SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan offers the master degree in Web and Digital Design. The aim of the SPD Master’s course is the creation of different professional profiles capable of planning, producing and sharing through the online communities a new generation of content and services. The program offers an experimental pathway at the forefront of design, marketing and technology. As the user experience is increasingly developing through social media, this scenario is deeply investigated with specific regard to the navigation flow between websites and search/social platforms and viceversa.
The overall didactic experience and a final three months internship provide the students with the professional abilities that allow them to engage in dialogue with the different figures involved in digital media projects.
The 15-month SPD Master degree in web and digital design is aimed at graduates in media studies, communication and graphics, it sciences, design or architecture and their equivalents or candidates who have gained significant professional experience in the field. The school offers also an intensive training course, designed for candidates with a degree not relevant to the field of further studies.
ONE YEAR COURSE IN Visual DESIGN
The school offers also an intensive training course, designed for candidates with a degree not relevant to the field of further studies. The OneYear course in Visual Design allows a creative immersion into design practice and transfers the essential tools to handle complex projects.
It is taught following a practical approach that starts from cycles of exercises and workshops succeeded by more complex identity projects and editorial designs. The One Year Course in Visual Design can also be intended as a primer to the Master course in Visual Design.
The programme guides students to consolidate their personal creative technique thereby encouraging a conscious approach to the design stage, a designer’s most vital possession.
Teaching focuses on practical experiences of increasing complexity alongside specialized classes in methodology and operational techniques. As a result of SPD’s peculiar historical heritage, specific attention is paid to relationship between the processes of human perception and the cultural and artistic roots of visual representation.
Founded in 1954, Scuola Politecnica di Design is the first postgraduate training center for design disciplines in Italy.
The school offers English programs: OneYear courses and recognised Masters that corresponds to 60 ECTS credits, in collaboration with IULM University. SPD has been awarded with the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize and is a member of the Cumulus design academies network and of ADI and AIAP professional organisations.
STUDYING AT SPD
SPD is located in a modern campus near IULM University in one of the most vibrant areas of the city.
SPD premises are located in Milan, in the heart of the Zona Tortona design district and close to the lively Navigli area. The school is easily connected to the city centre within minutes by bus or by underground and train. Campus facilities include canteen, computer and study rooms, library service. Many accommodation options are available in the nearby.
LIVING IN MILAN
Milan is a world capital of design and fashion, with a dense concentration of firms and experimental companies.
The city boasts new architectures, museum and designers' showrooms that represent a daily source of inspiration for young creative people. On the plus side, the burgeoning hotel and restaurant scene with new additions every year. During the design week and fashion shows, the city is transformed into an art installation.
