This program focuses on honing your sketching and rendering skills, enabling you to effectively convey your design concepts visually. You'll learn to use CAD software for creating detailed digital models and prototypes of vehicles, an essential skill in modern automotive design. Additionally, you'll gain hands-on experience in crafting physical models and prototypes of vehicle designs using various materials and techniques. Understanding the materials used in the automotive industry and the manufacturing processes involved in vehicle production is also a crucial aspect of the curriculum. Moreover, you'll explore the physics and engineering principles governing vehicle dynamics, handling, and performance.

Course Leader

Claudio Fassini

Claudio Fassini is an experienced Italian designer and educator.

He holds a Master of Arts in Design from the Royal College of Arts in London and has a diverse international background, having lived, studied, and worked in Italy, the UK, the US, and Germany. With over three decades in the business, Claudio has worked with renowned companies such as Philips, Fiat, McLaren, Studio Sowden, Whirlpool, Hyundai, Rolex, Agv Helmets, Porsche, Bosch and others.

His experience ranges from project management in various areas of design, overseeing the project lifecycle from market analysis and concept generation to proposal development and production, often leading international teams. He has been collaborating with SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design for over 15 years, working on 2D representation, sketching, digital rendering, 3D modeling, and tutoring projects for the transportation and car design courses. Claudio is responsible for SPD’s transportation and car design department.

This is a 60-credit supplementary course that introduces students to cultural, design, history and art subjects.

Through this training, foreign students with 11 years of school attendance who do not qualify for BA programs in Italy will be able to integrate the minimum prerequisites required by the Ministry of Education and Research before entering the university system.
Participants will be able to learn about the training methods of the SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design, interact with faculty, integrate practical and theoretical methods, and explore concepts of research and artistic production and best practices related to design.

SPD’s goal is to prepare every student to be a complete professional. The courses are divided into a theoretical part, consisting of lectures and external visits, and a project part for each teaching area with workshops held in collaboration with important studios and design agencies.
