The SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan offers the Master degree in Interior Design, a program that promotes creative thinking along with sound design abilities. Course contents deal with concept design and space planning, composition and interior layout.

The programme develops further by providing discerning insights into the language of materials, lighting, colour, furniture and technical components.

Collaborations with companies and institutions, and a final three-month internship enable the students to comprehend how interiors communicate the brand values through the use of architectural elements and spatial graphics.

The 15-month SPD Master degree in Interior Design is intended for graduates in architecture, interior design, product design or equivalent who want to broaden their professional horizons by deepening the most relevant tools for interior design.

ONE YEAR COURSE IN Interior and PRODUCT DESIGN

The school offers also an intensive training course, designed for candidates with a degree not relevant to the field of further studies. The OneYear course in Interior and Product Design guides them to enhance their design thinking and gradually acquire a sounder set of skills with a professional orientation.

The program tackles projects of increasing complexity both in product and interior design that embrace the entire creative workflow from the concept up to execution and communication. The One Year Course can also be intended as a primer to the Master course in Interior Design.

This intensive training course is designed for candidates with a degree not relevant to the field of further studies.

The programme guides them to enhance their design thinking and gradually acquire a sounder set of skills with a professional orientation. The academic approach integrates design practice with theoretical and technical teaching. General training involves colour theory and practice, 2D graphcs and 3D representation techniques, comprehensive knowledge of materials and their production processes, computer graphics, historical and cultural background information.

ABOUT SPD

THE SCHOOL

Founded in 1954, Scuola Politecnica di Design is the first postgraduate training center for design disciplines in Italy.

The school offers English programs: OneYear courses and recognised Masters that corresponds to 60 ECTS credits, in collaboration with IULM University. SPD has been awarded with the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize and is a member of the Cumulus design academies network and of ADI and AIAP professional organisations.

SPD is located in a modern campus near IULM University in one of the most vibrant areas of the city.

SPD premises are located in Milan, in the heart of the Zona Tortona design district and close to the lively Navigli area. The school is easily connected to the city centre within minutes by bus or by underground and train. Campus facilities include canteen, computer and study rooms, library service. Many accommodation options are available in the nearby.

THE CITY

Milan is a world capital of design and fashion, with a dense concentration of firms and experimental companies.

The city boasts new architectures, museum and designers' showrooms that represent a daily source of inspiration for young creative people. On the plus side, the burgeoning hotel and restaurant scene with new additions every year. During the design week and fashion shows, the city is transformed into an art installation.
